Why Portland

It’s all about supply and demand

By all estimates Portland will double in size by 2040. Much of this is because Portland currently offers the lowest cost of living of any major West coast city, coupled with an attractive lifestyle.

The current supply of housing in the Portland area is constrained because of limited developable land. This exacerbates the high cost of building new apartments. Westland estimates that rents in Portland must rise 20% - 30% before builders will break ground on new apartments.

The growing population in the Portland Metro area, and its effect on the demand for housing means that rents will continue to increase and vacancy rates will remain low for some time. These are the reasons why we invest in Portland area apartments.
